In a serious dilemma here people. I think I am ready for my next DSRL, but am confused about the glass to go with it.
I have decided on a Canon 7D body.
I am debating my walk-around lens.
Initially my heart was set on the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8, but after some discussion the Canon 17-40mm f/4L became an option. However, it is on the pricey end and 40mm seems short on a non-full frame camera. Also 2.8 vs 4 is a problem. But its an L lens!
I will likely be pairing this lens with a Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6.
Finally, I even considered something like a Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 so I can get some zoom, but I don’t need a zoom that often.
I like to take photos of landscapes and at night or in low light situation. That is why I like the wide aperture at a constant 2.8 and want a wide angle, 10-20mm lens. Times when I may need a zoom are sporting events and bigger occasions (graduations, a safari, etc).
What should I do people?
Edit: Miri, you make a good point. It is one or the other. 17-55mm or 17-40mm. They are similar lenses, definitely so no need for both. The 10-20 is for wide landscapes, but that also might be captured at 17mm.
